The Azores: Closer to Magic Than to Mainland

Halfway between Europe and America, a bunch of volcanic islands decided to be ridiculously beautiful - and somehow no one told the crowds. São Miguel, all green curves and misty edges, feels more like a movie set than a meeting destination.

For three days, we traded boardrooms for crater lakes, PowerPoint for ocean views, and Wi-Fi for actual human connection. Call it team building, call it therapy - either way, it worked.

A Soft Landing in the Middle of Nowhere

The moment we stepped off the plane, the air changed — softer, saltier, slightly confusing for people who left office air-conditioning only hours ago. Ponta Delgada doesn’t make an entrance; it just quietly says, “Relax. You’re on island time now.”

Ponta Delgada greeted us without fanfare: black-stone streets, a few friendly waves, and hotels that knew how to balance calm with class. By dinner, no one was checking their watch. Fresh fish, local wine, laughter that got a little louder with every toast. Day one: reset complete.

Hydrangeas, Craters & Quiet Minds

On São Miguel, even the roads show off. Endless rows of hydrangeas line every bend — blue, pink, and “we-get-more-rain-than-you” green. The higher we drove, the quieter it got. At Sete Cidades, two crater lakes stared each other down in shades of emerald and turquoise. Higher still, Lagoa do Fogo hid behind the clouds, waiting for the few who earn the view. No one spoke much up there - partly awe, partly altitude.

Food with a Pulse

On São Miguel, food has rhythm. Fresh tuna straight from the Atlantic, local wines that taste of salt and stone, and cozido — a stew slow-cooked by volcanic heat beneath the ground.
Next morning, the Atlantic called — and who says no to that?

We sailed out along the coast, dolphins showing off, whales casually stealing the spotlight. Phones down, eyes up. Somewhere between a toast and a tail splash, the group realised: this was the meeting everyone would actually remember.

Where Steam Meets Soul

In Furnas, the ground literally breathes. Steam hisses through the soil, geysers bubble like over-excited baristas, and kettles boil without anyone touching a switch. The tea? Grown right here — the only plantation in Europe. We drank it straight from the source: slightly earthy, perfectly real, definitely not from a hotel buffet. Nature on full power, no filter needed.

Why way2events?

Simple. Cause we don’t do trips. We choreograph stories people still talk about when the group chat’s gone silent.
•    100 % tailor-made, from first flight to final toast.
•    Hotels and venues chosen for their soul, not their star count.

The Azores were a welcoming pause. A reset.
A reminder of what really matters.
