Berlin has undergone such an amazing transformation in the last 70 years, and nothing seems to be able to stop this rejuvenating city! The last decade, Berlin was mostly known as a young, trendsetting place- to- be, but there are still very differrent aspects to it too! In early September, we went to check it out with our business partners!
It was a 3- day trip, flights included, so we needed to spend our time wisely. Our clients consisted of 9 executives, who were scheduled for a day-long meeting on day 2, and their partners, who we accompanied on a discovery of Berlin! For this high- end audience, we had arranged a stay at the gorgeous 'Rocco Fote Hotel de Rome', which used to be the headquarters of a large East- German bank. It is now turned into a prestigious hotel, with the former jewel vault functioning as a swimming pool, the cashier’s hall as a ballroom and the former manager’s office as a suite! An excellent decor for a business meeting, we figured!
We were lucky to have beautiful weather, so we could even enjoy the local terraces. Afterwards, we were guided through Berlins jewish neighbourhood, including the synagogue, while others went on a Trabant adventure through town! We topped off the day with a superb dinner at VAU, a Michelin (1 star) & Gault Millau (17/20) awarded restaurant, with the executives of course!
Before we flew back to Brussels, our 18 guests could informally continue their Berlin visit, by exploring the Jewish Memorial and the memorial pool in the Tiergarten. After paying our respects, it was time to conclude our Business/ Leisure trip to Berlin. We were glad to have seen the more business- like side of this inspiring city, and we’ll definitely be back in the future. Who knows what side we’ll discover next?
