A Conference League play-off away at FC Twente was always going to be one of the tougher fixtures on DAC 1904’s calendar. On the pitch, the evening in Enschede proved difficult. Behind the scenes, the operation ran exactly as planned.
After working with way2events for their European trip to Mostar, DAC 1904 returned for the next round and entrusted us with an even broader assignment in the Netherlands.
Back Together for Twente
For the trip to Enschede, way2events took care of the accommodation and meals for the travelling party at the Van der Valk hotel, along with the transport programme throughout their stay.
A team bus, kit van and Sprinter were available for transfers between the airport, hotel, training ground and stadium. At the hotel, the team had access to a private dining room, meeting room and massage facilities. A way2events staff member was also on site throughout the trip to coordinate the operation and respond immediately whenever needed.
Unlike the previous trip to Bosnia, the team stayed in Enschede after the match. Dinner was prepared at the hotel that evening, followed by breakfast the next morning and take-away snacks for the journey to the airport on MD+1.
A separate Viano transfer was also organised for the delegation attending their UEFA meeting.
It was a larger operation than our first assignment for DAC 1904, with more movements, more facilities and an additional overnight stay. The goal remained the same: make sure the team could focus entirely on football.
Inside De Grolsch Veste
FC Twente and De Grolsch Veste provided a very different setting from the previous European away trip. A packed Eredivisie stadium and a strong home side made this a demanding night for the visitors from Slovakia.
Twente took control early.
A Difficult Evening: 6–0
Daan Rots opened the scoring after seven minutes, with Marko Pjaca adding a second shortly afterwards. Daouda Weidmann and Max Bruns extended the lead before Ramiz Zerrouki and Robin Pröpper completed a 6–0 victory for the home side.
DAC 1904 responded a week later in Dunajská Streda with a 3–3 draw, but the deficit from the first leg proved too large to overcome.
Their European campaign was over.
Taking Care of Everything Around the Game
After a result like that, the last thing a team needs is to deal with transport, meals, hotel arrangements or last-minute questions.
By the time the squad returned from the stadium, dinner was waiting at the hotel. We added a small extra touch for the team after what had been a difficult evening, while everything else continued according to schedule.
The following morning, breakfast was ready, luggage and transfers were coordinated, snacks were prepared for the journey and the travelling party left for the airport without disruption.
That is what good sports logistics should do.
When the football becomes unpredictable, everything around it should remain predictable.
Second Trip, Continued Trust
The result in Enschede was not the one DAC 1904 had travelled for. Operationally, however, the trip delivered what the club needed: the right accommodation, meals at the right times, reliable transport, dedicated facilities and someone on the ground overseeing the details from arrival to departure.
After Mostar, DAC 1904 chose way2events again for one of the most important trips of their European campaign.
We made sure they only had one thing to think about.
